As Thanksgiving approaches, we at NY Foot Health know that New Yorkers are remembering all that they are grateful for. We want to be sure your feet are near the top of the list. These incredible parts of your body ensure that you can go where you want and do what you have to do every day. So be good to them! You may not realize quite how amazing your feet are. Below are some fun facts about feet and footwear:

  • As you walk, each time your heel lifts off the ground it forces your toes to carry one half the weight of your entire body.

  • Your feet contain 250,000 sweat glands and can produce up to half a pint of sweat in a day.

  • 9 out of 10 women are wearing shoes that are too small for their feet.

  • The average person walks 4,000-6,000 steps in a day—that adds up to approximately 100,000 miles in an average life.
