Laser Therapy for Foot and Ankle Pain Relief

Another exciting and technologically advanced treatment being utilized for various soft tissue and bony conditions is MLS laser therapy. This FDA cleared laser uses dual wavelengths unlike most other lasers in this category that have only one. It uses 808nm for anti-inflammatory treatment and 905nm for analgesia to decrease and eliminate pain, swelling and inflammation associated with plantar fasciitis, neuromas, arthritis, tendinitis, bursitis, sprains and a wide range of sports injuries, both acute and chronic. It also allows for increased vascularity and cell growth in addition to accelerated tissue repair rates. The laser light is directed over the injured areas whereby photon energy penetrates the tissue causing biological healing. The treatment is done in an office setting without the need for anesthesia. There is absolutely no pain associated with the MLS laser and it affords an 85-90% efficacy rate is alleviating pain and inflammation. It also greatly reduces fibrous tissue formation, improves nerve function and immunoregulation. Current indications for the use of MLS laser therapy include but are not limited to all chronic and acute soft tissue pathologies, metatarsalgia, nerve injuries and neuromas, sports injuries, post-surgical recovery and arthritic conditions.
