At NY Foot Health, we know many patients are still a little fearful about going to the podiatrist’s office during the pandemic. However, we want everyone to know, not keeping your appointments for chronic problems like diabetes and acute foot and ankle pain can be far more dangerous. NY podiatrists have always had sanitary procedures in place and have added more COVID safety protocols at this time to protect patients and staff from contracting the virus. Below are precautions most podiatrists are currently following:

  1. First and foremost, all offices are requesting patients and staff who don’t feel well or are exhibiting any signs of sickness not come into the office.

  2. Most podiatrists have small offices and are requesting only the patient come in for an appointment. (Exceptions are available if you need a caregiver to assist you.)

  3. Many practices are taking patients (and staff) temperatures before allowing them to enter and asking them to fill out a questionnaire stating they have not traveled outside the state or country or been exposed to someone who has the virus.

  4. All patients and staff are to wear masks for the duration of the appointment. Staff will also have gloves and other PPE as needed.

  5. Please use hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the office. If you prefer, restrooms will be available for washing hands with soap and water.

  6. It is advised that you use your pen to fill out paperwork. Offices will try to sanitize or provide new pens for you to use and keep.

  7. Your podiatrist’s office will continue to follow and update protocols as per CDC recommendations to ensure the safest experience possible.
